Author Guidelines
JALLIS: Journal of Arabic Language and Literature Studies publishes original research-based and conceptual articles in the fields of Arabic linguistics, Arabic literature, and related interdisciplinary studies. Manuscripts submitted to this journal must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication in any other journal or medium. The journal is committed to maintaining high academic standards through a rigorous double-blind peer review process.
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts submitted to JALLIS must be prepared using Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). The manuscript should be typed on A4-sized paper with margins of 2.5 cm on all sides. The text must be written in Cambria font, size 11, using 1.5 line spacing and a single-column layout. The length of the manuscript should range between 6,000 and 8,000 words, including references. All submissions must be written in clear and grammatical English. Authors whose native language is not English are strongly encouraged to seek professional language editing before submission.
Title and Author Information
The title of the article should be concise, informative, and clearly reflect the main focus of the study. It must not exceed 15 words and should be written in Cambria font, size 14, bold, with single line spacing and capitalization of the first letter of each major word. Author names should be written without academic titles and presented in Cambria font, size 11, bold. Each author’s affiliation must include the institution name and country and be written in Cambria font, size 10. Email addresses for all authors must be provided. One author should be designated as the corresponding author and must include complete contact details, including email address and phone or WhatsApp number.
Abstract and Keywords
The abstract must be written in English and typed in Cambria font, size 10. It should consist of a single paragraph containing between 150 and 250 words. The abstract should clearly describe the research background or problem, the objectives of the study, the methodology used, the main findings, and the conclusions or implications of the research. The abstract plays an important role in indexing and should therefore be written accurately and clearly without grammatical or stylistic errors. Keywords should consist of three to five words or phrases, arranged in alphabetical order and separated by semicolons (;).
Introduction
The Introduction section should present the background and context of the study and explain the rationale for conducting the research. Authors are expected to describe the research problem, highlight gaps or limitations in previous studies, and demonstrate the significance and originality of the current research. This section should be written in a clear and accessible manner without excessive technical detail. At the end of the Introduction, authors must explicitly state the objectives of the study. A detailed literature review or presentation of research results should be avoided in this section.
Literature Review
The Literature Review should provide a critical and analytical discussion of relevant theories and previous studies related to the topic of the article. Authors should synthesize existing research rather than merely describing it and clearly identify gaps, inconsistencies, or limitations in the literature. This section should demonstrate how the present study differs from, extends, or improves upon earlier research, thereby emphasizing its contribution and novelty. All citations must follow the APA 7th edition reference style, and the use of reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is strongly recommended.
Method
The Method section should clearly explain how the research was conducted. This section must describe the research design or type, the data sources or materials used, the data collection techniques, and the methods of data analysis. The explanation should be sufficiently detailed to allow other researchers to understand and, if necessary, replicate the study.
Results and Discussion
The Results and Discussion should be presented in one integrated section. The Results subsection should clearly and concisely present the findings of the study without unnecessary repetition of data already displayed in tables or figures. The Discussion subsection should interpret the findings by explaining their significance, relating them to the research objectives, and comparing them with results from previous studies. Authors are encouraged to discuss unexpected findings, provide possible explanations, and outline implications for theory, practice, or future research. This section should focus on interpretation and contribution rather than restating results.
Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and properly titled. Figures must be centered with captions placed below the figure, while table titles should be placed above the table. Both captions and titles should be written in Cambria font, size 9, and include the source where applicable.
Conclusion
The Conclusion section should directly address the objectives of the study and synthesize the main findings rather than merely summarizing the results. Authors should highlight the theoretical and practical contributions of the research and explain its significance for the field of Arabic language and literature studies. Where appropriate, suggestions for future research may also be included. The conclusion should be written clearly and concisely to leave a strong final impression on readers.
References
All references must follow the APA 7th edition citation style. At least 80% of the references should be primary sources, with a minimum of 20 journal articles, preferably published within the last five years. Secondary sources such as books and internet materials should be limited and used only when necessary. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software to ensure accuracy and consistency in citation formatting.
