Focus and Scope

JALLIS : Journal of Arabic Language and Literature Studies aims to provide a scholarly platform for the development of research, critical studies, and innovative ideas in the field of Arabic language and literature, with a particular focus on the Indonesian context. It serves as an academic forum for researchers, lecturers, students, and practitioners engaged in exploring linguistic and literary issues, as well as their intersections with education, culture, and society.

The journal covers six major areas: (1) Arabic language education and pedagogy across various institutions and levels, (2) Arabic linguistics, both theoretical and applied, within the Indonesian setting, (3) Arabic literature and literary criticism, including reception and translation, (4) translation studies between Arabic and Indonesian, (5) studies of the Arabic turath (classical heritage) and its relevance to contemporary scholarship in Indonesia, and (6) interdisciplinary inquiries into linguistic landscapes, language ideologies, and the presence of Arabic in Indonesia’s public sphere.
